Today January 6th, 2012 at 11:00 AM the Catalan Police Friends Association has for the first time in Catalonia's history organized a bulletproof vests and anti-cut gloves raffle between all of Catalonia´s police men and women. The drawing has been witness and officially certified by Ms. Silvia Martinez Carnicero, Notary Public in the province of Girona,. Today´s raffle drawing is the 1st of a total of 12th drawings that will take place during 2012.

The raffle's objective, is to provide to as many police agents as possible with some of the essential life protection gear the Catalan government is not supplying to its police force. These accessories, are essential to ensure better protection against possible body injuries that may result from knife and fire arm attacks. Most importantly, these additional protective gear saves human lives.

We must remember that police people have rights too, the same rights that every one of us has.
For instance, every citizen has the right to life, liberty and personal safety. It is our local and national governments' responsibility to provide safety and security to all its citizens. These citizens' rights, are systematically violated when cops are send to the streets to risk their lives by not wearing a minimum basic protective equipment.

Police people should not be allowed to work without wearing an officially approved lightweight bulletproof vest and anti-cut gloves. The consequences from not wearing these basic protective equipment could be devastating. For instance; the lost of a police agent´s life or being handy-caped for life. How would that dramatic situation affect the police agent´s family and friends? How many millions of euros will cost to Catalonia´s citizens to indemnify the family or to cover a life time of medical expenses? A huge cost for families, friends and citizens, simply because our government didn´t provide and asked each police person to wear bulletproof vest and anti-cut gloves.

The participants in the raffle´s draw have been all the local and national police stations. We must thanks to the donations from hundreds of citizens, their generosity will make possible that in 7 days 10 more police agents patrolling the streets of Catalonia, will be wearing bulletproof vests. There will also be an additional 44 agents with their hands more protected. Unfortunately, many police agent,s life will still be 100% left in God's hands.
